The National Association of Akweya Students (NAAS), Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MKD) Chapter, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, held its Fresher’s Welcome and Send-Forth Party at the Mathematics and Computer Science Department, bringing together new and returning students in a vibrant celebration of community, learning, and mentorship.
The event, which commenced at noon, featured a blend of intellectual engagement and entertainment, including Akweya talk sessions, music, games, and an interactive question-and-answer segment focused on Akweya current affairs.

The dialogue created an avenue for freshers to integrate seamlessly into the academic and cultural life of the association while strengthening bonds with returning members.
The occasion was graced by notable alumni and student leaders, including former NAAS National President, Idenyi Joseph, popularly known as Joesmith, and Ologba Innocent.
In his keynote presentation, Idenyi delivered a compelling address on achieving academic excellence, urging students to cultivate discipline, consistency, and a clear sense of purpose throughout their academic journey.
A major highlight of the event was the conferment of the Supporting Mentorship and Guidance Award on two distinguished personalities: Odoh Diego Okenyodo, the CEO of Akweya TV Limited, and Ahola Orgeh, Registrar of Igbinedion University and former Deputy Registrar at the MOAUM, formerly known as Benue State University.

The awards recognised their outstanding contributions to mentoring and guiding students within the Akweya community. Both recipients were commended for their dedication to nurturing young minds, fostering academic growth, and exemplifying leadership and integrity.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the association, Fred Johnson, described the honourees as “beacons of mentorship,” whose influence continues to inspire students to pursue excellence and make meaningful contributions to society.

The event concluded on a celebratory note, with participants expressing optimism about the future of the association and reaffirming their commitment to sustaining a culture of mentorship, unity, and academic distinction within NAAS.
