Former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Tambuwal, who currently represents Sokoto South Senatorial District in the Senate, announced his resignation in a letter dated March 11 and addressed to his ward chairman in Tambuwal/Shinfiri.

In the letter, the former governor cited the PDP’s persistent internal crisis and ongoing conflicts as the main reasons for his decision to leave the party.

He said his decision to align with the African Democratic Congress followed deep reflection and extensive consultations with political associates and supporters.

Tambuwal’s defection adds to the growing political realignments within Nigeria’s opposition parties, as more details surrounding the move are expected to emerge.
