A newborn baby was found abandoned in a dumpsite in the Shaddadi community of Kuje Area Council in Abuja on Tuesday morning.

According to Danjuma Alkali, a vigilante in the area, the baby was discovered around 5 am by vigilantes who were about to end their night patrol.

The baby’s cry, which was covered with a wrapper, attracted the attention of the vigilantes, who immediately moved closer to the dumpsite and found the baby.

The vigilantes alerted people in the area, and the baby was taken to a motherless home as directed by an elder of the community. This decision was made due to the ongoing strike by the social welfare department of Kuje Area Council.

This incident comes two weeks after another newborn baby was found abandoned in an uncompleted building in the Kuchiako area of the council. The police in the area have confirmed both incidents
