Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested nine suspected armed robbers who were allegedly terrorising residents of Abuja and its surrounding communities.
The arrests followed sustained intelligence-led operations and targeted patrols aimed at curbing criminal activities across the territory. According to police sources, the suspects were apprehended at different locations within the FCT, where they were believed to be operating coordinated robbery attacks on homes, businesses, and road users.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are linked to several reported cases of armed robbery, including night raids on residential areas and attacks on commuters along major roads. The police also recovered items suspected to be weapons and tools used in carrying out the crimes, as well as other exhibits believed to have been stolen from victims.
The FCT Commissioner of Police commended officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication to ensuring the safety of residents. He assured the public that the command remains committed to sustaining aggressive patrols and intelligence gathering to rid the territory of criminal elements.
Residents were urged to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can aid crime prevention and detection. The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
