A devastating fuel tanker explosion occurred in Majia, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State on October 15, 2024, claiming over 100 lives and leaving more than 70 people seriously injured.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Jigawa State, particularly the families of the victims. The IGP praised the swift response of police personnel and emergency responders who extinguished the fire, evacuated victims, and restored order in the area. He prayed for the souls of the departed and reassured the public of robust sensitization programs to educate on the dangers of oil scooping and similar activities.

The IGP Egbetokun urged motorists and road users to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines to prevent such tragedies. This incident highlights the need for enhanced road safety measures and emergency response strategies.
